“Custodire le voci”: Good Practices, Challenges and Perspectives on Oral Sources

On Monday, October 27, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the sixth Annual Day of Studies on Oral Sources will take place at the Tecnopolo in Reggio Emilia. The event, titled “Custodire le voci. Good Practices – Challenges – Perspectives on Oral Sources,” is organised by Istoreco Reggio Emilia in collaboration with a national scientific committee and with the participation of AISO and AISV.

The 2025 edition places oral archives at the intersection of theory, practice and responsibility. The focus will be on how to preserve and make accessible recorded voices, how to respond to technical, methodological, ethical and legal challenges, and how to develop sustainable strategies for the reuse of oral testimonies. The programme will explore archival curation, digital innovation, community engagement, and the integration of oral sources into broader historical and cultural frameworks.

Institutional greetings will open the event, with contributions from representatives of archival authorities, research institutions and the Permanent Table for Oral Sources. The study day will feature interventions by leading scholars and practitioners from across Italy, offering case studies, methodological reflections and project experiences. In the afternoon, the assembly of the Permanent Table for Oral Sources will take place, followed by a guided visit to the exhibition “Banditi e ribelli” hosted in the same venue.

This initiative represents a key national gathering for historians, archivists, researchers, cultural professionals and educators working with oral sources. It aims to foster the exchange of experiences, promote high-quality archival practices, and open new perspectives on the future of oral history and oral heritage in Italy.
